Position Summary:
We are seeking a skilled Mechanical CAD Designer to be responsible for developing and maintaining detailed mechanical models and engineering drawings using 3D pipe modeling software. This role involves preparing detailed mechanical drawings, 3D models, and design documentation for compressor stations, metering facilities, and related infrastructure. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented and collaborate closely with engineers and project teams to deliver accurate, compliant, and high-quality design solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and coordinate mechanical piping systems utilizing 3D modeling software.
- Develop detailed piping layouts by generating sections, elevations, and construction drawings from 3D models.
- Produce accurate isometric spool drawings to support fabrication, installation, and project coordination.
- Maintain drawing databases, templates, styles, and drafting standards.
- Perform thorough quality control reviews to ensure drawing accuracy, completeness, and compliance with project standards.
- Utilize Bluebeam Revu for efficient document markup, review, and cross-functional collaboration.
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with engineers, clients, vendors, project stakeholders, and field teams.
- Participate in internal and external project meetings to support coordination, resolve design issues, and ensure project alignment across multiple disciplines.
Requirements:
- Associate’s degree or formal training in Drafting, Mechanical Design, Mechanical Technology, or a related technical field required. Equivalent practical experience may also be considered.
- 4+ years of experience.
- Title and level will be commensurate with experience. Candidates with significant additional relevant experience may be considered for a Senior Designer title.
- Proficiency in 3D modeling of mechanical components in either AutoCAD Plant 3D or CADWorx
- Experience in preparing and understanding PFDs, P&IDs, plans, profiles, and detail drawings using AutoCAD.
- Ability to identify design conflicts and propose practical resolutions.
- Ability to work independently, manage deadlines, and maintain accuracy with minimal supervision.
Job Title: Lead Designer
We are seeking a Lead Designer to be responsible for all the responsibilities of the Mechanical Designer position, with the additional responsibilities listed below.
This role serves as the primary design lead for assigned projects, ensuring that design deliverables are completed efficiently, accurately, and in accordance with project requirements, company standards, and industry best practices. The Lead Designer oversees the allocation of design and drafting resources, manages workload distribution across projects, coordinates interdisciplinary design efforts, and drives quality throughout the design process. This position works closely with Engineers and Project Managers to ensure successful project execution and delivery.
Additional Key Responsibilities:
In addition to Designer responsibilities, the Lead Designer will:
- Lead and coordinate multidiscipline designers and drafters across project teams.
- Provide daily direction, guidance, and technical support to design personnel.
- Mentor and develop designers and drafters to improve technical capabilities and professional growth.
- Promote consistency in design practices, standards, and procedures across all projects.
- Balance workloads across multiple projects and disciplines to maximize efficiency and utilization.
- Monitor resource capacity and identify staffing needs, bottlenecks, and scheduling conflicts.
- Coordinate with Engineers and Project Managers to assign personnel based on project requirements and skill sets.
- Participate in project planning meetings, progress reviews, and design coordination sessions.
- Support project teams in achieving schedule, quality, and deliverable objectives.

- Advanced proficiency with AutoCAD, AutoCAD Civil 3D, AutoCAD Plant 3D, CADWorx, Revit, or similar design platforms.
- Strong knowledge of engineering drawing standards, design processes, and document control procedures.
- Excellent organizational, leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Demonstrated experience managing competing priorities across multiple projects simultaneously.
