Founded in 1952 by Joseph A. Schudt, Sr., Joseph A. Schudt & Associates (JAS) has built a longstanding reputation for delivering innovative engineering and surveying solutions for commercial, residential, and municipal projects. For more than seven decades, we have helped shape communities, infrastructure, and development projects throughout the Chicago metropolitan area and across the United States.

Pioneering with a Planned Community
One of JAS’s most significant early achievements was serving as Development Consultant and Engineer for the Village of Park Forest, Illinois, one of America’s first fully planned communities. Located approximately 35 miles south of downtown Chicago, Park Forest was developed as a model suburban community featuring single-family and multi-family housing, commercial centers, and industrial parks.
Park Forest, with a population of approximately 30,000, has twice been honored with the All-America City Award and continues to be a stopover for planners and professionals in our industry who are interested in comparing this 1950s project with the changes in the eighties.
